Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (11:02pm, December 6, 2021) that Liverpool and Manchester United should stop Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear from making the kinds of comments that he did about the new fan-led review proposals.

Neville has said that Liverpool and Manchester United are the top clubs in England who should be “reining in” comments made by Leeds MD Kinnear.

As quoted in The Yorkshire Evening Post, Kinnear was not entirely happy about the the 47 recommendations made by the fan-led review.

Some of those proposals include an independent regulator for football and a 10 per cent tax on Premier League transfers, as reported by Leeds Live.

However, Leeds MD Kinnear does not like the idea of having an independent regulator and of having more money going out of the Premier League.

Gary Neville’s message to Liverpool about Leeds

Neville said on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier League (11:02pm, December 6, 2021): “I just thought Leeds United as an ownership, as a sort of executive management team, would have understood the feeling of economic distress, desperation by being in the Championship that they were for so long.

“What I hope is that some of the top clubs in the country, like Manchester United and Liverpool – I have always thought that they should really be the guardians of English football, the most historic clubs, the most successful, they have got the biggest money and the most revenue – they should really be sat there, sort of reining in some of these comments.”

This is not the first time that Neville has hit out at Kinnear following his comments.

The former England international ridiculed the Leeds MD on Twitter when he first read the comments.

It will be interesting to see what eventually happens with the fan-led review recommendations.
