Defender Winston Reid has been reportedly ruled out from West Ham action until the end of the season.
West Ham United defender Winston Reid has cut a frustrated figure on Instagram after he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a long-term knee injury.
The 29-year-old was forced off the field of play on a stretcher last weekend, as Swansea ran riot at the Liberty Stadium to inflict a 4-1 defeat on David Moyes’ men.
The New Zealand international has suffered multiple injuries this season and this latest blow will come as hugely frustrating to the former FC Midtjylland defender, with Sam Byram also being sidelined until the summer with an ankle problem. The length of the duo’s injuries was reported by the Evening Standard on Wednesday.
Posting on Instagram, Reid sent a message to West Ham fans as he described his struggles with injury and determination to come back stronger, before stating “see you next year”.
Reid’s absence leaves Moyes with little options at centre-back, after the former Manchester United and Everton manager decided to sell Jose Fonte to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.
Reece Burke and Reece Oxford have also left the club on loan and with James Collins also missing the loss to Swansea, Moyes may be left with only Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna to choose from, with the latter overcoming illness.
The Hammers will be looking to push themselves away from the Premier League drop zone with a win against Burnley on Saturday at the London Stadium.
