Glenn Hoddle has said on Optus Sport that Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has gone off the boil.

The Tottenham legend made the comments about Reguilon after watching him in action for Spurs against Arsenal in the North London derby this past weekend.

Arsenal won the Premier League game 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Reguilon started the match and gave the assist for Son Heung-min’s goal in the second half.

However, the 24-year-old Spain international left-back struggled defensively against the Arsenal attackers.

Hoddle said on Optus Sport: “Reguilon came in, did very well, he competes well, gets forward, gets crosses in, he has gone off the boil.

“There are a lot of players at Tottenham at the moment who have just gone off the boil completely.”

Stepping up

Reguilon is a good left-back.

After all, the 24-year-old was on the books of Madrid, and you do not get to play for the Spanish and European giants unless you are good.

The defender did start his Spurs career strongly, but he has not been at his best this season.

Although Reguilon is trying hard and is giving his all on the pitch, he is unable to stop attacks down his side and is not able to do a great deal at the other end.

Tottenham fans will hope that Reguilon steps up his game, as he is arguably the best left-back at the club.
