Speaking on the N17 Matchday Online Show (Via Football London), Sergio Reguilon has shared details of a text message he received from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg when he joined Spurs.
The Danish midfielder was seemingly one of the first players to reach out to Reguilon, sending him a message on WhatsApp when he didn’t know anything about the club.
“One thing that nobody knows is Pierre, when I didn’t know anything about Tottenham, he sent me a message in WhatsApp,” Reguilon said.
“He said ‘Hi I’m Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, I hope you do well and we need you. I want you to do well for the team’.
“I was like ‘What?, What?’ and now every time I see him I say ‘Pierre, you remember it’ and he says ‘yes, yes’.”
The left-back then went on to speak about how important it was to have a player welcome him like that
“When you are arrive to a new stadium and a new country, it’s important to have people and players that help you and Pierre does that,” Reguilon concluded.

Of course, it’s always intriguing to hear a tale that we haven’t heard before, but to hear that Hojbjerg was the man to welcome Reguilon is very interesting.
Hojbjerg is only a new player at Tottenham himself, joining the club in the summer, but he took it upon himself to act as the welcoming committee for Reguilon, and that seemingly helped him settle in quickly.
The fact that Hojbjerg was happy to take up that role very quickly is telling of what type of player he is, and the fact that he’s such a leader bodes very well for Tottenham.
