Hammers loanee Reece Oxford responded to rumours linking him with a premature return to the London Stadium, during an exclusive interview with German media outlet Bild, insisting that he is determined to force his way into the Borussia Monchengladbach team.

The 18-year-old joined the Bundesliga side in the summer on a season-long loan deal, but has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular, failing to make a single appearance in any competition for Gladbach thus far.

Rumours had begun circulating that an early return to West Ham was on the cards for Oxford, but that does not seem like it will be the case.

The talented teenager sat down for an exclusive interview with Bild, and explained how all of his focus is geared towards breaking his way into the Bundesliga outfit’s first-team:

“It’s true that I have the option to go back to West Ham prematurely, but I’m not looking for it, but I just want to play here at Borussia. I’m only focused on training and the possibility to play.”

Surely there will come a time when the German side integrate Oxford into the first-team setup, because they must have given West Ham some kind of assurance that he would be used to a certain degree, otherwise his loan move away from the Hammers would seem like a total waste of time.

Judging by the the 18-year-old’s words though, it seems as though he has not yet given up on making his mark in Germany.
