West Ham United’s Reece Oxford could reunite with Slaven Bilic.
According to The Telegraph, Reece Oxford’s move from West Ham United to Augsburg could collapse – and a move to West Bromwich Albion may materialise.
Oxford, 20, came up through the West Ham ranks and burst onto the scene in 2015, but quickly faded into obscurity after a loan spell with Reading.
Stints with Borussia Monchengladbach didn’t help his cause, and having become an outcast under Manuel Pellegrini, he moved back to Germany in January with Augsburg.
The Bundesliga side wanted to make Oxford’s move permanent for around €4.5million (£4million), but the move is thought to be on the verge of collapse, leaving the holding midfielder to consider his options.
It’s even noted that Middlesbrough and West Brom are now in the race for Oxford, offering him a move to the Championship in order to try and kickstart his career again.
West Brom are on the verge of appointing Slaven Bilic as their new manager, and he was the man who gave Oxford his Premier League debut at West Ham back in 2015.
Bilic may well feel that he can salvage Oxford with a move to The Hawthorns, and adding a holding midfielder may be a priority having released Gareth Barry earlier this summer.
Oxford ticks the boxes for the Baggies and may fancy working with Bilic again, and there’s even a suggestion that Oxford can go to another English club for just £2million – which would fit well into West Brom’s budget.
