West Ham United supporters have known for years just how good Reece Oxford is, and Arsenal got an idea themselves when the then-16-year-old shone on his Hammers debut back in 2015.

But unfortunately for his fans and for the player himself, he has barely featured since that eventful day and now finds himself on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

After an ill-fated temporary stint at Reading, where he managed just five appearances, Oxford would have been hoping to enjoy a better time in the Bundesliga, but that was not to be.

The West Ham teenager sat unused on the bench for the first nine league games of the current campaign, before finally stepping onto the field against Hoffenheim at the weekend.

The problem is: He managed just a single minute, leaving many West Ham fans wondering what he is doing so far from home when game time continues to allude him.

The 18-year-old is a brilliant talent and he deserves to featured much more for the Hammers in recent years. Instead he is clearly not part of Monchengladbach’s first-team plans – at least when it comes to actually kicking a ball – and it is hard to see him developing his game sufficiently.

After his (very) brief debut we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Oxford’s Bundesliga debut and you can read a selection of what we found below:
