The versatile West Ham star has been on loan with German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

West Ham United defender Reece Oxford has confirmed that he will rejoin the Hammers on Instagram after his season-long loan with German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach – in what is somewhat of a surprise move.
The 19-year-old was shipped out on loan last summer by Slaven Bilic after failing to build on his initial breakthrough into the first team at just 16. He made only eight appearances for Gladbach, though.

However, the Bundesliga’s official site claim Gladbach could still look to make Oxford’s loan move a permanent one, with the England youth international reportedly being the subject of a £12million move back in January.
A return to the London Stadium seems slightly surprising, then, though the summer transfer window could become an interesting one for Oxford. He posted a heartfelt message to Gladbach fans, stating his time has “come to an end.”
Oxford could find game time just as hard to come by at West Ham, with the breakthrough of Declan Rice likely to push the former Reading loanee even further down the pecking order.
The Hammers academy product has three years remaining on his current contract, meaning David Moyes’ successor must make a decision on whether to cash in. But West Ham are certainly under no pressure to sell Oxford.
