The two young defenders are now signed on long-term for the club.
Today saw Manchester United tie down Tyler Blackett to a new deal. The 20-year-old local lad came through the academy ranks at the club and this season was used heavily near the start of the campaign.
He showed himself to be a player of promise, with plenty to learn, but obviously offered enough to earn himself fresh terms.
But while many were discussing Blackett signing a new deal until 2017, it might have slipped some by that another United defender put pen to paper today.
The player in question is Reece James.
The left-back, who can also play in midfield, has signed on the dotted line – although no time-scale has been given for his agreement.
He stood out in United’s pre-season tour of the USA when he scored twice against the LA Galaxy and making the bench for the first-team at the start of the season.
He also had a loan spell at Rotherham United earlier this term. The 21-year-old played seven games for the Championship club.
He will now be looking to push on and challenge Luke Shaw for the regular left-back slot at Old Trafford.
