Chelsea defender Reece James has told Jordan Henderson that he will be a ‘legend forever’ after he confirmed his departure from Liverpool via Instagram.

The 33-year-old has joined Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al-Ettifaq where he has linked up with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard – Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it to be a three-year deal, as he posted on Twitter.

On Wednesday evening, Jordan Henderson took to his Instagram where he told fans ‘I will always be a Red until the day I die’ – Jamie Carragher issued a two-word response to his exit.

That ends his 12-year association with Liverpool, where he won the lot, including the Champions League and Premier League title.

Nonetheless, in the comments section of Henderson’s IG post, he received a number of messages from teammates, including from Chelsea right-back Reece James.

The England right-back told his fellow countryman: ‘Good luck mate. Legend forever’.

James Milner, who has since joined Brighton on a free transfer, also added a commented: ‘Love it, Skip. Absolute legend’.

Who will Liverpool bring in?

It’s going to be interesting what doors Liverpool knock on now as they look for a replacement for their departed captain.

Yes, two new faces have already been added, but Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were supposed to play next to Henderson.

There has been talk about Romeo Lavia. That would be going down the younger route because whilst the Southampton midfielder has immense quality, he is still only a teenager.
