Burke has endured an indifferent spell on loan from West Ham.

West Ham United defender Reece Burke has posted a farewell message to Bolton Wanderers fans on Instagram after his loan ended with the Championship side.
The 21-year-old joined the relegation candidates last summer on a season-long loan, but was recalled in January by manager David Moyes who wanted to take a look at the defender – a move he also did with Josh Cullen and Reece Oxford.

Keeping Cullen, Moyes allowed Oxford and Burke to rejoin their loan sides for the second half of the season, which has seen the young defender make 25 Championship appearances for Phil Parkinson’s side.
Now, Burke has ruled out any chance of a permanent move on his Instagram story by bidding farewell to the Championship club who managed to survive relegation on the last day by finishing in 20th place, above Sunderland, Burton and Barnsley.
Burke still has two years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium, after making 15 senior appearances for the Hammers since making his debut against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup back in 2014 under Sam Allardyce.
However, Burke is likely to face huge competition for a place at centre-back next season, with the likes of Oxford, Declan Rice, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid above him in the pecking order. It remains to be seen if James Collins will be given a new deal.
