Liverpool fell at the final hurdle in the Champions League last season.

Liverpool ace Sadio Mane spoke to reporters today regarding his side’s hopes of achieving success in the Champions League this season, and Reds fans will love to hear what the Senegalese had to say, as quoted by ESPN.
The Merseyside outfit were so close to winning their sixth European Cup in May, but eventually fell short, losing 3-1 to Spanish giants Real Madrid in Kyiv.
Many are predicting that Liverpool will go on to win at least one major trophy this season, following Jürgen Klopp’s lavish spending this summer, where he brought in four new faces to the tune of nearly £180 million.
And Mane certainly believes his side has what it takes.
The 26-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in the summer of 2016, responded to reporters when asked whether the Reds can go one step further and win Europe’s premier competition this season, as quoted by ESPN:

“It was a very big sign for us. It was a bonus for us to learn and get those kinds of experiences. We have played [big games] already and we know how. Now we have to do the same work on the pitch and the experience we had in the past will help. It’s very early to speak about it but it’s why we’re always here working: to do anything possible. We have the quality and everything to go throughout [the tournament], so why not? Why not?”
Liverpool will find out who they will face during the group stages at 5pm tonight when the Champions League draw is made.
