Harry Kane scored as Tottenham beat Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has told TalkSPORT that he believes Harry Kane can become Spurs’ version of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Kane, 24, scored the only goal of the game on Saturday lunchtime as Spurs earned a 1-0 win over north London rivals Arsenal thanks to the striker’s second-half header.
The boyhood Spurs academy product, who is earning £110,000 a week according to the Daily Mail and in line for a bumper pay rise to £200,000, has now surpassed 100 Premier League goals for Spurs.
Redknapp claimed that Kane is already earning enough to keep him at Spurs and reckons that the England international is not looking for a move to one of the big guns, such as Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“I personally see Harry staying at Tottenham long-term,” Redknapp said. “Harry is a unique lad. He’s earning good money and he’s not chasing that extra few quid.
“If there is a footballer in the county who wants to be loyal to his club, it would be Harry Kane. The boy is a one-off, he’s unique, he’s not your average modern footballer. He’s a family man and he has a good life at Tottenham.
“It’s like Steven Gerrard at Liverpool – we haven’t seen that for a long time. Someone who is idolised by the fans and is part of the make-up of the club. I think that’s what Harry is at Tottenham and I think that connection will only get stronger.”
Spurs held on to the 1-0 win as Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech denied the likes of Kane, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen a second goal, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side rode their luck towards the end as Alexandre Lacazette spurned two glorious chances.
Kane is expected to start for Spurs on Tuesday night as they go up against Juventus in Italy in the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of 16.
