Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports – as per Football Daily – he would still prefer to be in Arsenal’s shoes than Tottenham going into the final two games of the season. Arsenal sit one point ahead of Tottenham, in fourth.

Despite Arsenal sitting ahead, Tottenham dismantled the Gunners on Thursday night with a brilliant 3-0 win – largely helped by the sending off of Rob Holding. Harry Kane had put Spurs 1-0 up from the penalty spot.

Holding then saw red, and Kane got his second from a Son corner – flicked on at the near post by Rodrigo Bentancur. A third came immediately after the interval, when Kane set up Son to net his 21st league goal of the season.

Spurs now have the momentum and arguably, the easier fixtures – they play host to Burnley, and then a trip to Norwich. Arsenal take on Newcastle away, and Everton at home. Redknapp says he would prefer to be Arsenal.

“It’s a really difficult one,” Redknapp said. “Arsenal know what they’ve got to do. If they win their two games, they get Champions League. Spurs, of course, have got much better fixtures. You’d rather have Spurs fixtures.

“But I wouldn’t mind being in Arsenal’s shoes. You know what you’ve got to do. I know it’s tough on a Monday night at Newcastle. It is still all to play for, but at least Arsenal know what they’ve got to do,” Redknapp continued.

While one aspect of what Redknapp is saying is true, in that Arsenal have it in their own hands – the pressure will be enormous. The pressure to keep it that place with Spurs breathing down their necks, will be palpable.

Not only that, but as Redknapp rightly points out, their injuries – especially in defence – are racking up. Ben White was on the bench, but Holding is now suspended and Gabriel limped off. He could join Kieran Tierney.

Spurs also have the better fixtures and you can pretty much guarantee six points against Burnley and Norwich. It means Arsenal must beat Newcastle and Everton, and that is easier said than done after such a harrowing loss.
