Liverpool striker Diogo Jota scored against Norwich City on Saturday evening, but Jamie Redknapp isn’t convinced by his role in the side.
The Reds headed down to Carrow Road for their first league game of the season, and wanted to avoid a shock against the newly-promoted Canaries.
Jota fired Liverpool in front in the first half, before being substituted on the hour mark for Roberto Firmino.
Firmino made it two as he finished off Mohamed Salah’s cross, and Salah got himself on the scoresheet with a fine finish.
A 3-0 win to start the season is ideal for Jurgen Klopp, but pundit Redknapp wasn’t sure about Jota’s performance in attack.
The Portuguese ace may have opened the scoring, but Redknapp felt that he wasn’t at his best down in Norfolk.
Redknapp told Sky Sports (14/08, 18:20) that he isn’t sure Jota is best utilised as a central striker on his own,
“Jota hasn’t been at his best,” said Redknapp. “I don’t think it suits him as an out and out number nine but he’s got his goal and he’ll be delighted with that,” he added.

When £45m attacker Jota played for Wolves, he wasn’t really used as a striker in the way Klopp utilises him at Liverpool.
Jota would play in from the left flank or up top with Raul Jimenez, meaning the impetus wasn’t on him to spearhead the attack.
With Firmino coming on and scoring, Jota will know that he needs to keep developing in that role to keep his place in the team, but nothing will take away from a superb start to the season.
