Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp now has doubts about whether Mauricio Pochettino could return to the Premier League outfit following the departure of Antonio Conte.
Redknapp’s argument is that, if Spurs really wanted Pochettino back in North London, surely they would have made their move by now.
After all, it’s not as if the former Paris Saint-Germain boss is under contract elsewhere. Pochettino has been out of work since leaving the Ligue 1 leaders last May.
Given that Conte’s has resembled a dead man walking for at least a couple of weeks – and amid reports suggesting that Daniel Levy is considering a number of alternative options – Redknapp feels that the ship may have already sailed for a man who guided Tottenham to the Champions League final back in 2019.

“(Pochettino) lives not far away. He’s not working at the moment,” Redknapp, who’s four-year spell in North London between 2008 and 2012 laid the foundations for ‘Poch’ to build upon, tells talkSPORT (27 March, 11am).
“They’ve obviously got reservations. He certainly doesn’t become a red-hot favourite after not giving him (the job) today.”
Conte was finally put out of his misery on Sunday evening; Fabrizio Romano reporting that Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason will take interim control until the end of the campaign.
Spurs are reportedly considering the likes of Oliver Glasner, Roberto de Zerbi, Thomas Frank and Julian Nagelsmann as a long-term replacement. Nagelsmann is available following his sudden sacking at Bayern Munich last week; another supposed Spurs’ target, Thomas Tuchel, taking his place on the Allianz Arena bench.
Simon Jordan, however, wonders if Levy will have concerns about hiring another outspoken head coach who, like Conte, has a reputation for making headline-grabbing observations.
“My first thought was, is that the next port of call for Daniel Levy? It depends what Levy wants to do,” Jordan tells talkSPORT.
“Nagelsmann is a discussion they could have. But if you’re talking about someone who is potentially prickly and problematic…
“If managers cannot work with the people they actually work for, it doesn’t matter how good you are. You’re always going to find yourself on the wrong side on an argument.”
