Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Eddie Nketiah was ‘exceptional’ during Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (20/04/22 at 9:45 pm).
The Sky pundit added that the 22-year-old, who netted a brace at Stamford Bridge, was a ‘real thorn in their side’.
Before last night’s game, Nketiah hadn’t scored for Arsenal in the Premier League this season.
But, like London buses, when one doesn’t come, two will come at once and that’s exactly what happened last night.
After the game, this is what Redknapp had to say about Nketiah’s performance.
“Nketiah especially I thought he was a real thorn in their side,” said Redknapp. “He took his goals really well. The confidence is starting to come out of him now.
“Got the second one. He was exactly what they needed. The number of times he went and pressed, then won it in midfield. I thought he was exceptional – he had a field day up there.”

Alexandre Lacazette, who returned to the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge last night, is an option for Mikel Arteta to pick from as his starting number nine against Manchester United.
But Nketiah has now surely done enough to keep the Frenchman on the bench, and for once, provide Arsenal with some much-needed quality in the forward areas.
For far too long now, Lacazette has been the only one playing as the striker, without anyone behind him trying to bang the door down.
Well, Arsenal’s penalty-box poacher has done that and this is a big few weeks in the club’s future, as well as Nketiah’s.
