Leeds United could make changes to their midfield in January.
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is reportedly open to leaving the club on loan if his first team chances do not improve.
He has played only 110 minutes in the Championship this season, and Polish outlet Przeglad Sportowy report he will ‘probably’ return to an Eredivisie club.
A move will be sensible if the situation sustains, especially considering Leeds are planning a move for another midfielder in January.
Japanese sensation Yosuke Ideguchi is their target, with The Yorkshire Post reporting they want to bring in the international midfielder.
But despite his starring role in World Cup qualification, Yahoo! Japan claim Ideguchi is not certain to qualify for a work permit.
This would leave Leeds having to loan him out at first, perhaps for six months, perhaps 18.
If the red tape at the Home Office denies Igeguchi’s application and he cannot play a part for Leeds this season, it could hamper Klich’s own aim to be sent out on loan.
The league season is just 19 games into the 46 game campaign, plus potential play-offs, and Klich could yet earn an important role in the second half of the season.
Leeds must plan for injuries, poor form and suspension, and this may mean keeping Klich around. It may be too soon to simply give up on a player they paid a seven figure fee for just a matter of months ago.
The arrival of Ideguchi would enable Klich to head back to Holland, but without it, Leeds may take a pragmatic view to keep the Polish midfielder around and make him fight for his place.
