Tottenham Hotspur host Serbian champions Red Star in the Champions League later today.
Spurs are struggling in the league as well as in Europe. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to pick up a win in the Champions League so far this season. The last time Tottenham played in the Champions League, German champions Bayern Munich battered them in a humiliating 7-2 defeat and Red Star will be looking to take inspiration from that.
A win for the Serbian champions tonight will push them five points ahead of Tottenham in Group B and with Pochettino’s side still to play Bayern Munich in Germany, it will not be easy to recover from that position.
Milunovic said: “Tottenham are in crisis at the moment but it is not reality for them. All these players played in the final last year.
“We have a lot of respect for them but we will play our game and create chances. This is the right moment [to play Spurs] but it will be dangerous. I just want to say again let’s not forget what kind of team we are playing against.”
Spurs will certainly be looking to get back to winning ways tonight but it will not be easy. Red Star are no pushovers as witnessed last season when they picked up a shock victory against current European champions Liverpool at the Red Star stadium.
Milan Pavkov, who scored twice against Liverpool in their win last season, is Red Star’s top scorer so far this season. The 25-year-old has five goals in seven games so far this campaign and he will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a Spurs side who have conceded 11 goals in their last three games.
