Richmond Boakye can’t stop scoring – no wonder Celtic, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Swansea City are reportedly interested.
Another game, another goal for Richmond Boakye. The Ghanaian can’t stop scoring for Red Star Belgrade and his strike in the 4-0 thrashing of Macva Sabac at the weekend has taken on extra significance after reports broke that Boakye could be on his way to Britain in the near future.
The Mail reported last week that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is demanding scouts are deployed to watch the 24-year-old in action against Arsenal in the Europa League this Thursday. Conte knows Boakye well, the prolific striker representing Juventus’ reserves during the Italian’s wildly successful spell in charge of the Serie A champions.
Meanwhile, Celtic, Swansea City and Crystal Palace are also said to be running the rule over a striker who has as many goals in 2017 as one Cristiano Ronaldo.

Boakye’s strike in the Serbian Super Liga clash on Saturday was his 31st for club and country in all competitions since the turn of the year. This season alone, the 2013 Under-20 World Cup bronze-medal winner has 12 in 18 for Red Star.
And links with Scottish champions Celtic have captured the imagination, particularly with GhanaSoccerNet reporting that he is valued as much as £10 million. Consequently, this would make Boakye the most expensive player in Celtic’s history.
Whether they need him at all is another matter. In Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele, Celtic are hardly short of potent goalscorers right now.
With Boakye’s purple patch showing no signs of coming to an end, however, it makes perfect sense for Celtic to track the Ghanaian’s progress.
