HITC Sport understands RB Leipzig to beat Premier League clubs to Caen winger. Everton and Newcastle had been showing interest.
RB Leipzig are leading the race to sign Everton, Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham United target Yann Karamoh from Caen, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Karamoh has emerged as a target for a number of clubs across Europe after impressing for Caen last season in his breakthrough campaign.
The 18-year-old, who has come through the ranks at Caen, scored five goals for 35 Ligue 1 appearances and he is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe.
Karamoh is entering the final year of his contract at Caen and he has so far not agreed a new deal to extend his stay at the French club.
The news has alerted Karamoh’s suitors who are hoping to persuade Caen to cash in on the teenager this summer rather than risk letting him run down his contract.
The likes of Everton, Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham have all expressed an interest in Karamoh, but they look set to be disappointed in their pursuit of the France Under-21 international with RB Leipzig in pole position to land him.
RB Leipzig have been busy in the transfer market as they plan for next season in the Champions League and playing in Europe’s premier competition has given them a huge advantage over their rivals in the race for Karamoh.
