Why would Tottenham Hotspur sell Eric Dier to Manchester United as they have recently lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City?
Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
A report in The Mirror earlier this week claimed that United were preparing to make a £60 million bid for the 23-year-old, who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder.
The same newspaper has since reported that United have given up on the England international after being told by Tottenham that he is not for sale at any price.

A sum of £60m is quite a lot for any club and for any player, and with Tottenham building a new stadium, they could do with the money.
However, one can understand why Spurs are ready to turn down an offer of £60m for Dier. The North London outfit recently sold defender Kyle Walker to Premier League rivals Manchester City for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £54m.
Having just received over £54m for the England international right-back, Spurs do not exactly ‘need’ to sell another of their prized assets in Dier.

Moreover, selling the former Sporting Lisbon youngster to United would not go down well with the Tottenham fans.
Walker’s move to City has only strengthened City, and United would become a better team with Dier in it.
Tottenham would not want to strengthen two of their main rivals for the Premier League title in the same summer.
