Bolton Wanderers’ highly-rated talent Luka Connell has made the switch from England to Scotland’s top-tier by joining Celtic this summer.
Luca Connell could be yet another gem discovered by Celtic and one that they could, in the near future, sell on for big-money, especially given the fee they seemingly paid for his services.
The Daily Mail have reported that Celtic signed the highly-rated 18-year-old for just £350,000. In today’s quite bonkers and inflated transfer market, that is some serious piece of business.
With that type of fee, Celtic have put themselves in a win-win situation because even if the midfielder doesn’t produce, they haven’t lost out on much, even for a Scottish Premiership side.
Still, whatever business the Bhoys do this summer, that’ll more than likely be the best transfer they have undertaken because of the rewards that could come with it.
Connell won’t be breaking into Celtic’s midfield straightaway, but he’ll have a brilliant mentor in Scott Brown to learn from, who will need someone to replace him sooner rather than later.
Added with that, if the Republic of Ireland international does reach the levels expected then he’ll be one of the best midfielders in Scotland and it’ll bode well for Celtic’s chances of winning more trophies.
And even further down the line, as Celtic have done before, they can sell the player for a serious profit and given what teams, especially in England, are paying for players, the Glasgow club might make some serious cash from this player.
But before all that, the focus will be on the youngster settling into his new surroundings and impressing the coaching staff in pre-season.
Whilst he might not go straight into the starting XI, given his talents it won’t be a surprise to see him knocking on the door midway through the season.
