Leeds United tried to sign Taras Romanchuk in the summer.

Leeds United were linked with a whole host of players over the summer, and one that they missed out on – according to reports – was Taras Romanchuk.
The Whites were in the market for midfield reinforcements, and ended up signing Lewis Baker on loan from Chelsea to bolster Marcelo Bielsa’s options.
Mateusz Klich’s resurgence has been key in the Leeds midfield this season, and they attempted to sign another Polish midfielder too.
The Daily Mail reported in July that Leeds offered £1.2million for Jagiellonia Bialystok’s Polish international midfielder Taras Romanchuk, which was ultimately rejected.
The 27-year-old is a strong, hard-working holding midfielder who can kickstart attacks, and would seemingly be targeted as competition for Kalvin Phillips in holding midfield.
Leeds may have failed to sign him over the summer, but Romanchuk has now opened the door to a 2019 move, telling Sport.pl that he wants to move to another club, away from Poland.

Romanchuk has suggested that he wants to earn less but play more, announcing his intentions to move on either in January or at the end of the season, and that may be of interest to Leeds.
His work rate and stamina may just suit itself to playing in Bielsa’s high-energy style, and with the midfielder set to enter the final 18 months of his contract, Leeds may well be wise to move in January and add competition for Phillips in holding midfielder whilst finally bringing a summer target to Elland Road after all.
