It has been quite the week for Arsenal academy product Emile Smith Rowe, after he earned his first call-up to England’s senior side.
Led by Tottenham striker Harry Kane, the Hale-End star stated that he has been welcomed into the group by the England captain and he shared what he told him.
Whilst Smith Rowe’s form for Arsenal has gone through the roof this season – he has scored in three Premier League games on the bounce.
The same can’t be said for Kane across the other side of North London because his form has been out-of-sorts and Tottenham have been boringly indifferent.
Kane only has one Premier League goal to his name, despite currently holding the Golden Boot award from last season.
The drop-in form from the hard-hitting forward has been alarming, and dare it be said, not surprising because of what happened in the summer.
But during these coming matches, Smith Rowe, whilst he is rivals with Kane on the domestic circuit, will be looking to link up with him out on that pitch.
And if Gareth Southgate provides the 21-year-old with minutes or a start, then his ball-carrying expertise and creative talent might just help Kane find some much-needed form.
If Kane returns to club duty next week without any goals to his name and questionable performances during these next few matches, then he will get a lot of stick thrown his way.
But with the likes of Smith Rowe out on that field, and in his form, there’s no reason why Kane shouldn’t be fed in a proper manner and ensuring that he returns to Spurs with his stomach full.
If that’s the case then it’s good news for the Tottenham faithful and the new man in the Hotspur Way training ground in Antonio Conte.
