Huddersfield Town have appointed Leeds United’s Carlos Corberan as their new head coach.
Corberan’s new title – which differs from that of his predecessor, Danny Cowley, who served the Terriers as manager – suggests that most of his work will be done on the training pitch, with recruitment overseen by others at the club.
But that doesn’t mean the Spaniard won’t have a say on transfers and if he does then a return to Leeds for reinforcements may be on the cards.
Here are three Whites players who could be sought by Corberan this summer.
Kamil Miazek

Huddersfield have already seen Kamil Grabara and Jonas Lossl return to their parent clubs and have yet to announce new deals for Joel Coleman or Ryan Schofield, whose departures would leave them without a senior keeper. Miazek’s contract is also up this summer and he could find himself surplus to requirements in the Premier League. The Pole played plenty of times for Corberan’s Under-23s in his two-and-a-half-years at Elland Road and was the youngster promoted in Kiko Casilla’s absence towards the end of this season.
Alfie McCalmont
Central midfield is another potential priority area for Corberan at Huddersfield, with loan deals up for Emile Smith Rowe, Andy King and Trevoh Chalobah. McCalmont is understood to be one of Marcelo Bielsa’s favourite Leeds prospects and has already been capped at senior level by Northern Ireland. Despite these things, he has still appeared just twice in club football and regular minutes could be on the agenda next season. A loan to Corberan’s Terriers would make a lot of sense.
Ryan Edmondson

Elias Kachunga and Collin Quaner look set for release by Town, whose top scoring striker Karlan Grant is rumoured to be making a big-money exit. Those departures could create vacancies up front, and thus increase the chances of a reunion between Corberan and Edmondson. The latter scored a healthy amount of goals for the former’s U23s, but like his aforementioned colleagues he has yet to be rewarded with a prolonged spell at senior level. Edmondson was rejected by Huddersfield earlier in his career.
