West Ham United snapped up Andriy Yarmolenko last week.

West Ham United have been busy in the transfer market in recent days, and whilst the deal for Lazio’s Felipe Anderson grabbed headlines today, they added another winger earlier in the week.
The Hammers landed Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, handing him a four-year contract after agreeing a deal with the Bundesliga side, just one year since his move from Dynamo Kiev.
Yarmolenko, 28, made his name in his native Ukraine with Dynamo Kiev, becoming a star having hit 137 goals in 341 games, whilst he finished seven consecutive seasons with double figures.
The winger – who also has 35 goals in 77 caps for Ukraine – was touted for a move to the Premier League for some time, but made a move to Germany last summer with Dortmund.
It’s fair to say that, for all the praise Yarmolenko has received in recent years, he failed to live up to expectations at Signal Iduna Park, notching just three goals and two assists in 18 Bundesliga appearances.
Dortmund have decided to cash in on Yarmolenko, and West Ham fans remain excited about the winger’s arrival based off his displays for Ukraine and Dynamo Kiev, and one man who is certainly a fan is Serhiy Rebrov.

Rebrov had a dismal spell with West Ham during the 2004-05 season, scoring just twice in 33 games, but he did manage Yarmolenko for Dynamo Kiev – and told BBC Sport in 2016 that he felt the winger could feasibly play for anybody on the continent.
“I think he is a talent, he has a very strong character, and I’m sure he can play in any team in Europe,” said Rebrov.
West Ham fans will certainly hope that Rebrov is right about Yarmolenko and that he can be a success in East London – or at the very least enjoy more success in claret and blue than Rebrov did.
