Arsenal fans have been left disappointed after Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was ruled out of their game against Southampton.

The Daily Mirror claim that Arsenal do not expect Aubameyang to be available this evening, in what looks a huge blow to their chances of success at St. Mary’s.

Aubameyang had just started to click into gear, but a ‘personal issue’ caused him to miss Arsenal’s game at the weekend, and he has now been ruled out again.

The news comes as a massive blow to Gunners fans, who are now just hoping that their most potent goalscorer is okay.

Aubameyang may not have been at his flying best this term, but he remains Arsenal’s main goal threat and his return cannot come soon enough for the Gunners.

In Aubameyang’s absence it seems most likely that Gabriel Martinelli will be given the nod to start down the left hand side.

Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the FA Cup on Saturday, so Arteta’s men will know the dangers that the Saints can cause.

If Arsenal can win this evening they could move up as high as eighth in the Premier League table, providing other results go in their favour.
