Chris Sutton has claimed that Arsenal are a ‘really weird’ club because after only two recent defeats ‘the wheels are off’, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

The former striker added that ten days ago, the Arsenal fans were ‘delighted’ with what Mikel Arteta was doing and now there is ‘uncertainty’.

After sitting in a pretty commanding position in fourth spot, the Gunners, after losing back-to-back games, have now become part of the chasing pack.

At first, they were leading the charge for Champions League football and it doesn’t help that Tottenham are the ones that have pushed ahead of them.

Sutton spoke about the wave of emotions Arsenal fans go through, as he thinks it’s happening again now.

“You go back ten days and you speak to any Arsenal fan,” said Sutton. “And they would be delighted with Arteta and the progress they have made.

“It’s a really weird club Arsenal. Weirder than most because two defeats and you feel like the wheels are off. They are unique in that sense.

“At the start of the season, a lot of the Arsenal fans, like it or not, they didn’t want Arteta. They thought his race was run.

“All of a sudden, he’s nurtured and cajoled. He’s built a pretty settled side and everybody is talking about the development of the young players coming through. This is great and we can see progress – and now there is that real uncertainty. It’s a crucial period for Arteta from now until the end of the season.”

Well, this end of the season is going to seriously test the metal of Arteta and his young squad.

From Chelsea to the North London derby, they have some seriously tough fixtures coming up.

If they beat, or come out with positive results, against the likes of West Ham, Man United, Chelsea and Spurs, then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t get fourth.

But the most important game is going to be that all-important trip to Tottenham where both teams are going to be under serious, serious heat.
