Shaun Wright-Phillips has claimed that the ‘stick’ Son Heung-min is getting because of his recent poor form for Tottenham Hotspur is ‘really unfair’.
The former Chelsea winger added that only the ‘final part’ of Son’s game is letting him down and the Tottenham star will be back to his best soon, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (03/09/22 at 8:30 pm).
Antonio Conte’s side have started the new season in a strong fashion and they are unbeaten in their opening six matches, sitting third and one point behind leaders Arsenal.
Whilst Harry Kane has found joy in front of goal, even both of Tottenham’s wing-backs, midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier, it’s not yet clicked for the Golden Boot winner of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
But Wright-Phillips doesn’t want to hear any of the nonsense that is being spoken about him.
“I think he does all the harder stuff really, really well,” said Wright-Phillips. “This is just unlucky. If Kane doesn’t go for it, then it’s his goal.
“A lot of the times, the harder thing to do is to get into those positions. He’s getting into all the positions. It’s just that final part that is letting him down.
“I think it’s been really unfair that he’s been getting all the stick he has been getting.”

The fixtures are going to hit Tottenham hard during these next few weeks because they are set to return to Champions League action.
French giants Marseille will travel to London to face Spurs and it will be interesting to see if Conte starts Son.
The usual front three is now Son, Kane and Dejan Kulusevski, but the latter was seemingly rested by Conte for the club’s 2-1 win against Fulham over the weekend.
Nonetheless, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Son finds his spark in Europe and then it transmits itself back to the domestic stage.
