Jamie Carragher has reacted to Julen Lopetegui’s exit from Sevilla amid rumours that he could replace Bruno Lage as the next manager of Premier League side, Wolves.
The Liverpool legend claimed that the former Real Madrid boss was ‘really successful’ at Sevilla and he is a ‘great coach’, as he told CBS Sports (05/10/22 at 10:35 pm).
On Wednesday night, Sevilla were handed a footballing lesson in the Champions League, led by English star Jude Bellingham, when they were thrashed 4-1 by Borussia Dortmund.

Straight after the game, amid rumours leading up to the match, Lopetegui was freed of his duties.
It was pretty clear he knew what was coming because he and the fans were emotional after the final whistle and they were saying their goodbyes to one another.
Carragher reacted to his departure and the emotional scenes after the game and how he could now be Premier League-bound.
“The manager has left on the back of tonight,” said Carragher. “He had been really successful with Sevilla, there is talk of him maybe him coming to the Premier League.
“He has managed Real Madrid. He has managed the Spanish national team, so there’s no doubt he’s a great coach, but you can see how emotional he is getting. He has left tonight after the game, but he has done a great job.”

WOLVES SQUAD UNDER-PERFORMING
Whilst Nuno Espirito Santo will be fondly remembered by the Wolves fans because he helped bring them back up to the Premier League, at the end of the day, it ended in a drab fashion for the former goalkeeper.
One problem area for Nuno was the lack of attacking threat he failed to get out of his Wolves team during his time in the Molineux dugout.
The same problems were thrown at Lage, despite having an array of attacking talent at his disposal
Raul Jimenez’s head injury, and then return where he hasn’t been the same since in terms of performances, hasn’t helped because he was at the heart of their attacking play.
But if it is indeed Lopetegui to replace Lage, then it will be a clever appointment by the Wolves board, despite his recent exit from Sevilla.
