Danny Murphy has admitted on BBC’s Match of the Day Live that he was surprised that Leeds United fans didn’t get a glimpse of their reported transfer target Adama Traore last night.
EuroSport claimed earlier this year that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are set to make a bid for Traore in the sumer, with Wolves apparently prepared to cash in on the winger.
The rapid wide-man could increase his value if he shines at Euro 2020, which may be a concern for Leeds if they do plan to bid.
However, he was not given the opportunity to feature last night – despite Spain faltering against Sweden.
Luis Enrique’s team just could not find a way to break down the Swedish defence.
And Murphy was stunned by Traore’s talents weren’t utilised by his country.
“I am surprised they haven’t used Traore,” he said.
“I know he sees his players every day in training and whether they’re sharp or not, but when you’re coming up against a team like this, he’s exactly the type of player you want. He’s one of the best at one-on-one situations with a full-back where you know he can beat them, get to the line and get some crosses in, which they’ve lacked second half. It’s a really strange one.”

No way through
Those in the Spain camp will likely argue that Traore may not have been at his most effective last night, as Sweden sat so deep.
The Leeds target’s key strength is his pace and ability to get in behind defences, but last night’s game was more about working in tight spaces, with Sweden banking up.
That being said, Traore could have given Sweden’s backline a new problem to think about in the closing stages.
If Traore was brought to Leeds he could be an exciting addition, as his direct running and skill would surely be an asset to Bielsa’s side, given the threat they already pose on the counter attack.
