Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Aaron Ramsdale’s save during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday was ‘really, really top-draw’, as he told Premier League Productions (13/03/22 at 5:30 pm).
Just like Ramsdale did during the reverse fixture against Leicester, the Arsenal goalkeeper was providing a picturesque moment again for the cameras.
It was James Maddison’s free-kick that Ramsdale managed to save last time out, but yesterday, it was Harvey Barnes’ header that he tipped over the bar in fine style.
That was a crucial moment in the game because Arsenal were leading 1-0 at the time, before Alexandre Lacazette put a cushion between the two sides when he converted from the spot.
Nonetheless, this is what Hoddle made of it all, as he was seriously impressed by the Englishman in between Arsenal’s stick.
“Great reaction,” said Hoddle. “The thing for me is that I think he read it as well.
“The ball was so good, his feet are going backwards. He’s brought himself an extra second or split-second actually to get across.
“And that’s really, really top-draw. He gets that extra split-second of a time to then make that save. Incredible. Wow.”

At the start of the season, many were questioning the transfer fee Arsenal paid then-relegated Sheffield United for Ramsdale’s services.
But those question marks have now turned on its head because many think he is perhaps the signing of the summer.
Not only that, with Jordan Pickford’s struggles at Everton, will Ramsdale get his chance of becoming England’s number one?
The only thing going against Ramsdale is that, when it comes to performances for England, Pickford has been outstanding for the last six years, and whilst question marks can be made of his club performances, there’s no doubt that he is top-draw for his country.
