Leeds United coach Mark Jackson hailed the performances of Sam Greenwood, Gaetano Berardi and Robin Koch after his rampant U23 side thrashed West Bromwich Albion 5-0 on Monday, while speaking to LUTV.
Sitting 13 points clear of second-placed Stoke City, the Whites are cruising to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title.
A five-goal battering of West Brom, away from home no less, felt like something of a coronation moment for a Leeds side who look nigh-on unstoppable right now.
Joe Gelhardt took his tally to 11 goals in 15 games with a brilliant hat-trick, while former Feyenoord starlet Crysencio Summerville added to his growing reputation with a well-taken finish of his own.
It was Greenwood’s thumping 25-yard free-kick that will live longest in the memory, however, during a game which moved Leeds’ U23s to within touching distance of silverware.
“I thought the performance from minute one was really, really good,” Jackson said after his side ripped the Baggies limb from limb.
“Any goal is a good goal but to score goals like that, particularly Sam’s free-kick, is really, really good. We focused a lot on how we were going to attack West Brom, how we were going to utilise the wide players and how we were going to play. The boys showed a fantastic attitude.”

In a day full of positives, both Berardi and Koch stepped up their recoveries after long-term injury absences, the former playing the full 90 while the latter lasted an hour in a defensive midfield role.
“It’s great to see Bera get 90 minutes under his belt, same with Robin, same as Leif (Davis) and Ian (Poveda) and other players like (Jamie) Shackleton,” Jackson added.
“These players, when they drop down, are really, really positive and they show excellent attitude and application.
“They’re quality in the matches as well.”
