Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to Dele Alli openly blaming himself for his decline in performances.

Things may have started off in a bright fashion for Alli under Jose Mourinho’s stewardship, but it soon turned sour for the attack-minded midfielder.

Ever since he was substituted at half-time of Tottenham’s opening day defeat to Everton last season, it went downhill for the player.

But a lot of Alli’s problems or his stagnation in a Spurs shirt started well before Mourinho entered the room.

And now Alli told Goal that ‘the only person I blame is myself’ and how he ‘learned a lot’ working under Mourinho.

This has sparked a reaction from the Spurs faithful, who are grateful that the player has finally woken up and taken some responsibility.

This was needed by Dele for him to step forward and he now has a clean start under the stewardship of the new Portuguese in the house – Nuno Espirito Santo.

Like Mourinho, Tottenham’s new boss is also demanding, but Alli will be hoping he features more regularly under his guidance because he simply cannot afford a bad season now.

If things continue to go south for the former MK Dons academy product then his time in North London will soon be coming to an end.

Here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to what they are hearing from Alli:
