Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has spoken highly of Joelinton and has suggested that he is a complete player, as quoted in The Guardian.

Howe, who was recently appointed as the Newcastle manager, has been impressed by Joelinton.

The former Bournemouth boss has outlined the attributes of the 25-year-old Brazilian forward.

The Newcastle manager has also explained what Joelinton is going to bring to the team.

Eddie Howe on Joelinton

Howe told The Guardian about Joelinton: “He’s covered every blade of grass for us. Joelinton’s given everything for the team.

“He’s got a real selfless mindset and I think he can continue to improve; he’s going to be a huge player for us.

“We really, really like him; I think he’s got a good mix of physicality, technical ability and tactical intelligence.

“You saw some superb footwork from him in tight areas on Tuesday when he started as a No 10 and then moved to midfield where, after very little instruction, he showed high tactical awareness. He was brilliant.”

Encouraging

Joelinton cost Newcastle £40 million in transfer fees, and there have been widespread criticisms about his lack of goals.

And indeed the 25-year-old’s goal return is very disappointing.

The Newcastle no. 7 has scored just seven goals in 82 Premier League games so far in his career.

However, we now know that Joelinton is not a number 9.

Callum Wilson is.

So, in our opinion, Joelinton should be judged by how he plays in attack and the number of chances that he creates.

The Brazilian is starting alongside Wilson as the front two, but clearly the latter is the one who is expected to score goals for Newcastle now.
