Kevin Campbell has defended Alexandre Lacazette and claimed that he gets ‘a lot of stick’ from fans, as he told the Highbury Squad.
The Arsenal legend added that the club’s stand-in captain ‘really is the glue’ at the top of the pitch for the Gunners.
In midweek, Mikel Arteta’s side recorded a deserved and hard-fought 1-0 win over their Champions League-chasing rivals, Wolves.
It was a gritty display from the ten-men of Arsenal, but Lacazette is well aware that he should have got on the scoresheet himself on that evening.
Given the question marks over the Frenchman’s goalscoring ability, Campbell defended his fellow striker and shared the other qualities he brings to the table.
“A lot of people give Lacazette stick,” said Campbell. “But he really is the glue at the top end of the pitch. He really is.
“I know he struggles to be that guy. The goalscorer. But his all-round game helps the youngsters so much.”

Lacazette’s contract does expire in the summer and it seems as though he won’t be signing on the dotted line.
This is despite the 30-year-old currently wearing the club’s armband following the saga surrounding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Not only do the Gunners need to look for more striker options in the summer, but someone else needs to be handed the armband.
Given that the last two permanent appointments have been stripped of the role, by two different managers, fans will be hoping for more luck this time around.
