Allan Saint-Maximin has set the tone for a potentially brilliant second season at Newcastle United.
Steve Bruce’s side kicked off their Premier League campaign with very good 2-0 win away to West Ham United on Saturday night.
The French winger was arguably Newcastle’s best and most exciting player during Project Restart when football resumed in June.
And Saint-Maximin looks to have picked up where he left off from last season after producing an electric display in East London yesterday.
The 23-year-old was a constant threat to the Hammers’ during his 75 minutes on the field, dovetailing superbly well with new left-back Jamal Lewis at times.
Here’s how Newcastle fans reacted to the former Nice winger’s performance:
One of his problems last season was consistency – or a lack of, rather – but what a good start this is for the Magpies and of course the player himself.
And if he can replicate this standard of performance on a regular basis this season then Newcastle – and particularly new striker Callum Wilson – will benefit in a big, big way.
