Graham Potter has been speaking about Liverpool target Rafael Leao amid rumours that Chelsea are favourites to sign the AC Milan forward.
Chelsea boss praises Liverpool target Rafael Leao
Ahead of AC Milan’s visit to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League tomorrow night, Potter heaped praise on the Portugal international following his incredible start to the season.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the 47-year-old said: “I’ve been really impressed with Rafael Leao whenever I’ve watched Milan games, he’s a top player. In terms of what happens in the future, who knows whether he can do this in the Premier League or not. He’s got the capability, for sure.”
The 23-year-old has began the campaign on fire for AC Milan, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
Potter’s comments come shortly after a story from Corriere della Sera emerged, which claimed that Chelsea lead the race to sign Leao ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.

The AC Milan No.17 won’t come cheap, however.
According to AC Milan info, Leao has a release clause worth £130m.
Rafael Leao surely set for Chelsea over Liverpool
In our view, Liverpool cannot afford to sign Leao as they target a move for Jude Bellingham at a similar price.
Borussia Dortmund are said to value the England international at £130m, amid talk he is Jürgen Klopp’s No.1 target at Anfield – that is according to The Athletic.
In that segment from The Athletic, there are even doubts over whether Fenway Sports Group will finance a move for Bellingham if the figures become too high, so we highly doubt Liverpool can even think about signing Leao.
By the sounds of it, Bellingham would be preferred over the Portuguese forward.
Whatever happens, be sure to keep an eye on both players going into 2023, as it would be special to see them both arrive in the Premier League.
