Some Newcastle United fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that they’re interested in Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea.

What’s the story with Plea?

According to Lequipe, Newcastle are keen on Plea, and Monchengladbach could be keen to sell him.

The striker is entering the final 18 months of his contract, and it seems as though he could be on the move this month.

Interestingly, the report claims that Newcastle have asked Plea’s former teammate Allan Saint-Maximin about the striker, so it sounds as though there is a genuine interest in the attacker.

Decent addition

This could be a very decent signing from Newcastle United.

Plea may not have been in the best of form this season – he’s scored just three league goals this term, but he’s hit double figures in both Germany and France in the past.

Factor in that he already has that embedded relationship with Saint-Maximin from their time at Nice, and it sounds as though this could be a great fit for both parties.

Newcastle are reportedly still in the market for an attacker, despite signing Chris Wood for £25m, and Plea could be exactly what they’re looking for.
