Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he did not expect Diogo Jota to be as good as he has proved to be, as quoted on BBC Sport (19:57).

Klopp made the comments after Jota scored the winner for Liverpool in their 2-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger found the net in the 85th minute after coming on as a substitute in the second half.

The German has added that Liverpool had to work very hard to secure the services of Jota from Wolves.

Klopp said about Jota, as quoted on BBC Sport (19:57): “We fought really hard to sign him. We didn’t need to convince him too much, but we had to fight for it.

“He’s an exceptional talent. He has the speed, physicality, technique, he’s both-footed… He’s much better than I thought he would be and that’s really impressive.”

Diogo Jota’s impact at Liverpool

Jota moved to Liverpool from Premier League rivals Wolves in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has yet to establish himself in the Reds’ starting lineup, but the winger is making an impact as a substitute.

According to WhoScored, the Portugal international has scored three goals in five Premier League appearances and has scored one goal in two Europa League games.

The youngster has settled into life at Liverpool well, and perhaps in the coming weeks, Jota will make himself a regular in Klopp’s starting lineup.
