Thanawat Suengchitthawon is finally set to join Leicester City after three years of waiting, telling L’est Republicain that he is ‘really happy’ to be on the verge of a move to the former Premier League champions.
It’s fair to say the summer of 2017 was a rather mixed one for the Foxes – as far as recruitment goes, that is.
While Harry Maguire didn’t do too badly in Leicester blue, establishing himself as an England international before becoming the most expensive centre-back of all time when joining Manchester United, Vicente Iborra and Adrien Silva fell dramatically short of such lofty expectations at the King Power.
If things had been different, Suengchitthawon could have been posing for photos alongside Maguire and Silva in the Midlands.
But while a dream move failed to come to fruition three years ago, it seems that the young midfielder’s patience is finally paying off.
“Yes, everything is sorted now. The only thing that remains is for me to pass the medical examination and to sign my contract. I’m going to work for three years at Leicester. I am really happy,” Suengchitthawon explains.

“I had already had contact with Leicester three seasons ago. But, at the time, I had not followed it up, I wanted to continue my training in Nancy. I imagine Leicester continued to follow me.
“And since I found myself free this season, Leicester took the opportunity to offer me this three-year professional contract.
“Some may think that I sign in Leicester for the money but, frankly, that is not it.”
Suengchitthawon is set to play for Leicester’s U23 side initially and he will move to the King Power on a free transfer, with his contract at French side Nancy due to expire in July.
Speaking to Eurosport, his agent admitted that talks had been held with director of football Jon Rudkin with official confirmation seemingly only days away.
