Sepp van den Berg has been speaking to the Liverpool Echo about his time at Liverpool so far, and he shared plenty of interesting things.

The Dutchman arrived from PEC Zwolle in June 2019 for a fee of £1.3 million – Liverpool had to fend off interest from Ajax to land him.

Since then, the 19-year-old has made just four first-team appearances for the Reds.

However, as you can see from the Club World Cup image above, Jürgen Klopp has still included him in some memorable moments.

Van den Berg has also been allowed to train with the first-team, where he’s been able to watch the likes of Virgil van Dijk up close.

Speaking about his fellow Dutchman, the teenager said: “He is someone who, as a young player, you look up to. He’s an incredible defender. It’s a really great environment to be in, to be able to train with him, to watch him play or to even watch him train.”

Surely, watching the £75 million man in person will do wonders for Van den Berg’s development.

To have Europe’s best centre-back right by his side at Anfield is huge, and it’s even better that they both speak the same language!

Van Dijk won’t be around forever, and Liverpool will need an heir to his throne.

In Van den Berg, they have a towering option who is composed on the ball, and one who already has bundles of experience for his age.

Before he has even finished his teenage years, Van den Berg has racked up 92 appearances in all competitions, which is pretty impressive.

For just £1.3 million, Liverpool might have another young gem in the mould of Harvey Elliott or Kaide Gordon in their ranks.

So far, he’s been in some fantastic environments since his move to England.

Hopefully one day, we’ll see him bossing things on Merseyside just like Van Dijk.
