Jamie Carragher was very critical of Arsenal’s squad yesterday on Monday Night Football, but he did reserve seem praise for both Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey.
Odegaard and Partey both were snapped up by Arsenal last summer, with Edu working well to land the pair.
And although Carragher has serious questions over a number of Arsenal’s players, he did say that the midfield pair have both impressed him.
“Odegaard has come in and he’s someone you’d try and make a permanent signing if possible, he’s been a revelation, he’s been fantastic,” Carragher enthused.
“Thomas Partey has come in and I actually think he’s going to be a really good signing for them in the future.”
Whether Odegaard will join Arsenal on a permanent deal now remains to be seen.
The playmaker has impressed, but landing him from Real Madrid could well be difficult, despite his impressive appearances so far.
Not only would Odegaard be a costly purchase, but doubts remain over whether Arsenal will have European football to offer him next term.
Partey, on the other hand, is set to stay – and Arteta will surely be building his midfield around the Ghanaian next term.
