Alisson Becker has certainly proven a wonderful addition by Liverpool.

The Anfield outfit spent £66 million on signing the Brazilian goalkeeper almost four years ago.

And having won a Champions League and Premier League title at Liverpool, you could say he’s been a brilliant signing by Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp.

Alisson’s influence was evident again on Thursday when the Reds beat Leicester City 2-0 on Merseyside.

However, it could and probably would’ve been a different game had James Maddison found the net at 0-0, but Alisson pulled off a fine save to deny the English attacker during the first half.

And even former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers highlighted Alisson’s save, speaking to Leicester’s official website following the game.

He said: “We failed with the final passes which can make the difference once we arrived. Their ‘keeper made a really good save from Madders.”

The victory saw Liverpool move within nine points of Premier League champions and leaders Manchester City.

However, with the Reds also boasting a game in hand, the title race might not be done and dusted just yet.

Klopp’s side still have a lot of catching up to do – some would argue the mountain is too steep – but with a goalkeeper like Alisson between the sticks, he’s going to save the Merseysiders a lot more points between now and the summer.
