Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Liam Cooper has waxed-lyrical about Diego Llorente, praising his pace and ability on the ball.
It’s been something of a stop-start season for Llorente at Leeds. The Spain international has been hampered by injury, and that’s limited him to just eight appearances for the Whites in his debut campaign.
However, despite the fact he’s played so little football, Cooper has been very impressed by him.
“Diego’s come in and done unbelievable,” he said. “He’s very quick, he’s very decent on the ball and we all try and improve our ball game,” Cooper said.
“He’s a Spanish international. They don’t just get given out, Spanish caps. He’s a really good player and I’m enjoying playing alongside him.”
The Leeds captain was then asked if Llorente has a diagonal cross-field pass in his locker, to which he replied:
“I think he’s got it yeah. He deals with the ball so well anyway, but he’s definitely got that ping to the left-back, it’s a ball I like to play and it’s a good resource for us, but I think he’s definitely got it.”

This is certainly big praise from Cooper.
The Leeds skipper seems to be a big fan of Llorente, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Llorente is a Spain international and he seems to have all of the talent in the world. Unfortunately, his injuries have hampered him this season, but we have finally begun to see the best of him in recent weeks.
Fingers crossed, he can stay fit next term and show the Premier League just how good he is.
