Speaking to Sky Sports, Dean Smith has been raving over Leon Bailey ahead of the opening round of Premier League fixtures.
Bailey was signed from Bayer Leverkusen this summer for a hefty fee, and it sounds as though Smith has high hopes for the winger.
The manager says that Bailey’s pace will make him a great asset, labelling him as a ‘really good player’.
What’s been said?
Smith gave Bailey a glowing review.
“We’re very good at driving transitions anyway but I’ve always been a bigger believer that pace scares defenders, and Bailey’s got that in abundance. He brings more pace into the team, it gives us different options. On top of that, he’s a really good footballer. You don’t survive in the Bundesliga unless you’re a really good player,” Smith said.

Exciting
These comments should have Villa fans incredibly excited.
The winger is yet to make his debut for Villa, but if Smith is calling you a really good player then you have to have something about you.
Bailey’s numbers in the Bundesliga were brilliant, but playing in the Premier League is a different kettle of fish, and it sounds as though Smith believes he has what it takes to be a success in England.
Perhaps Bailey is the player who can make Villa forget all about Jack Grealish.
