Son Heung-min is clearly bang in form for Tottenham Hotspur right now.
Last week, the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker, a £22 million signing in 2015 under Mauricio Pochettino, scored three times in helping Spurs to a 4-0 victory away to Aston Villa.
This season, Son has netted 18 times across all competitions – and has scored eight goals in his last seven Premier League appearances.
At the moment, the 29-year-old could hardly be doing anymore – and yet Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has teased a potential explosion from Son by revealing that he actually does expect the player to get even better.
Conte, whose side host Brighton this afternoon, told Football London: “We are talking about a really good player. But he can improve, and that is my expectation – that he gives us from now until the end of the season and big push and to try to finish his race in the best possible way.”
If Son maintains this form for the last seven Premier League games of the season, well it’ll stand the Lilywhites in very good stead with regards to Champions League qualification.
Tottenham already have a three-point cushion over fifth-placed Arsenal and with the Gunners playing after Spurs this afternoon, the deficit could be six points by the time the latter host Southampton.
Conte’s outfit have won their last four games and if Son keeps scoring then, well, it’s very difficult to see Arsenal catching their bitter rivals.
