Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested to the club’s official website that Thomas Partey could feature against Crystal Palace this week.

Partey has resumed training with his Arsenal teammates, but the Ghana international defensive midfielder did not play against Newcastle United in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Arsenal will take on Palace at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Thursday evening.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Partey: “We assessed the situation, how much training he’s done and the boxes he’s ticked. He was still a little bit short.

“Hopefully on Thursday we might have him available in the squad. Let’s see how he trains the next couple of days. He’s been really good at the moment.”

Encouraging news for Arsenal fans

Arsenal are doing well at the moment and have won their last four competitive games.

The Gunners will be expected to pick up all three points against Palace, and the prospect of Partey starting or even being a substitute will be encouraging for the North London club’s fans.

The 27-year-old former Atletico Madrid star has not made a great impact at Arsenal so far due to injury and fitness issues, but he has been impressive in the games he has played.

If Partey gets a run of games, then he will be back to his best, and that would enhance Arsenal’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
