Jack Wilshere has spoken highly about Mohamed Elneny and stated that he is a ‘really good footballer’ who is now an ‘important player’ for Arsenal, as posted by Beanyman Sports.

This time last season, Elneny was out on-loan at Turkish giants Besiktas and it seemed as though the previously unfancied midfielder’s career at the Emirates was nearing its end.

But under the stewardship of Mikel Arteta, the combative £5 million signing [Daily Mail] has turned things around at Arsenal.

Wilshere praised the Egyptian’s character, both on and off the pitch, and shared that he is someone who he ‘enjoyed’ playing with during his time in North London.

“You have Elneny at Arsenal, who I played with,” said Wilshere. “I really enjoyed playing with him.

“Really good footballer. Good to have around the dressing room and a really nice guy. And a good character.

“I am happy for him that he is back now at Arsenal. Last year, he went on loan and he did well. Now, he has come back and I think he will be an important player this season for Arsenal.”

Elneny perhaps put in one of the best Arsenal performances of the season when he helped his side to a 1-0 win at Old Trafford at the start of the month.

But after going from the sublime, Elneny, along with his teammates, dropped down to the ridiculous when they were taken apart by Aston Villa.

Elneny has brought a sense of aggression, control and combative nature to Arsenal’s midfield, but it’s missing that spark to knit it all together.
